The Mendi 9s has quickly established itself as one of North Queensland’s premier rugby league carnivals, bringing together teams, supporters and the wider community for a high-energy celebration of the game.

Since its debut in 2024, the tournament has showcased the excitement of the nine-a-side format, combining elite competition with a festival atmosphere both on and off the field. Hosted at Brothers Leagues Club in Townsville, the Mendi 9s delivers a full weekend of rugby league, entertainment and connection for players and spectators alike.

The 2026 carnival, to be held from 2–4 October, will build on the success of previous years with the return of three divisions - Men’s Cup, Men’s Shield and Women’s Cup - and a $50,000 prize pool. With limited team spots available and growing interest from across the region and beyond, the event continues to raise the standard for rugby league carnivals in Queensland.
